What Writing 7 Books in Under a Year Taught Me About Finally Sharing Your Story

S.E. Rybicki's 7 Book Collection

If you had told me a year ago that I would write and publish 7 books, I probably would’ve laughed… and then immediately listed all the reasons why that wouldn’t happen.

Not enough time. Not enough clarity. Not enough confidence.

And yet—here we are.

Since September 2025, I’ve written and published 7 books. Not because I had it all figured out… but because I finally stopped waiting until I did.

And if you’re sitting on a story right now—this is for you.

I Didn’t Start With Confidence—I Started With Obedience

There’s this idea that you need to feel ready before you begin.

You don’t.

Most of what I’ve written came together in moments where I didn’t feel qualified… but I felt called.

That tension? That’s where your story begins.

2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Confidence didn’t come first. Obedience did.

Clarity Comes While You’re Writing—Not Before

One of the biggest things that kept me stuck for so long was waiting for everything to “make sense” before I started.

But clarity doesn’t come from thinking about your story.

It comes from writing it.

There were chapters I didn’t fully understand until I got them out of my head and onto paper. There were lessons I didn’t see clearly until I slowed down enough to reflect.

Your story doesn’t need to be perfectly organized to be powerful.

It just needs to be honest.

You Don’t Have to Share Everything to Share Something Meaningful

This one matters, especially in today’s world where oversharing is often confused with vulnerability.

Owning your story doesn’t mean exposing every detail.

It means:

  • knowing what to share

  • understanding why it matters

  • and delivering it with intention

There’s a difference between healing and performing.

And your story deserves to be handled with care.

Consistency Builds Momentum (Even When You Don’t Feel It)

Seven books didn’t happen overnight.

It happened through small, consistent steps:

  • writing when I could

  • showing up when it wasn’t perfect

  • choosing progress over perfection

Some days felt inspired. Some days felt like nothing.

But the work still counted.

And over time, those small steps turned into something I never thought I’d accomplish.

Your Story Isn’t Just for You

This might be the most important thing I’ve learned.

Your story isn’t just about what you’ve been through.

It’s about who it can reach.

There are people walking through things right now that you’ve already survived. There are people asking questions you’ve already wrestled with.

And your words, your honesty, your obedience…could be the very thing that helps them take their next step.

If You’ve Been Waiting… This Is Your Sign to Start

Not when you feel ready. Not when everything makes sense. Not when the fear disappears.

Start now.

Start messy. Start unsure. Start with what you have.

Because if writing 7 books taught me anything, it’s this:

You don’t need perfect conditions to begin. You just need a willing heart.
