"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony..." — Revelation 12:11
For the first time on the Rybickulous Faith Podcast, I traded places.
Instead of asking the questions, I became the guest.
My friend, Sara McGrady, interviewed me about the journey behind Rybickulous Faith, the inspiration for my memoir Lost Valley Road, and the many ways God has faithfully redeemed every chapter of my life.
This conversation wasn't about celebrating my story, it was about celebrating what God can do with a surrendered life.
Why I Finally Shared My Story
Over the past two seasons, I've had the privilege of interviewing incredible guests from all walks of life. Again and again, I've watched God use ordinary people and their testimonies to encourage others, strengthen believers, and point people toward Jesus.
Eventually, I realized something.
I couldn't keep encouraging others to own their stories if I wasn't willing to fully share my own.
That realization became this episode.
Every Valley Has a Purpose
The title Lost Valley Road isn't just the name of my memoir.
It represents a season of my life when I was searching for acceptance, purpose, and identity in all the wrong places.
Like many people, I experienced childhood trauma, church hurt, unhealthy relationships, addiction, grief, and seasons where I questioned my worth.
Looking back, I can now see that God never abandoned me, not even in my darkest valleys.
He was preparing me for a purpose I couldn't yet understand.
Healing Beyond Church Hurt
One of the most vulnerable parts of this conversation was sharing how church hurt affected my view of Christians and my relationship with God.
When people fail us, it's easy to confuse their actions with God's character.
But people are imperfect.
Jesus isn't.
Learning that difference became a turning point in my faith journey.
Healing didn't happen overnight, but God's grace proved greater than the wounds I carried.
Your Testimony Is Your Superpower
One message kept resurfacing throughout our conversation:
Your testimony matters.
The enemy wants us to believe our past should stay hidden because of shame.
God wants to use that same story to bring hope to someone else.
Our testimonies don't glorify our mistakes.
They glorify the God who redeemed them.
That's why I'm so passionate about helping others own their stories through this podcast, my books, and my publishing ministry.
Faith Without the Filter
One question Sara asked me was what "Faith Without the Filter" really means.
For me, authentic faith isn't pretending life is perfect.
It's bringing your honest questions, fears, failures, and struggles before a perfect Savior.
It's choosing obedience when you don't have all the answers.
It's trusting God's timing when life doesn't make sense.
It's believing He can redeem what feels impossible.
That's the kind of faith I want this ministry to represent.
No Story Is Beyond Redemption
If there's one thing I hope listeners took away from this episode, it's this:
Your past does not disqualify you.
Whether you've experienced addiction, trauma, church hurt, broken relationships, grief, shame, or seasons of wandering...
God is still writing your story.
There is no testimony too broken.
No valley too deep.
No life beyond His redemption.
